Wichita State will play Kentucky in men’s basketball for the first time in the regular season, according to a college basketball insider.
Rocco Miller, who regularly reports on scheduling agreements, reported on Thursday that WSU will travel to Rupp Arena in Lexington during the 2026-27 season.
In a release, Wichita State said the game will happen on Nov. 27; tip time and TV information will be announced at a later date.
The teams met in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2014 and 2017, both won by Kentucky.
The 2014 game in St. Louis was viewed by many as one of the top games in NCAA Tournament history.
Wichita State, a No. 1 seed, entered the game 35-0. Kentucky, a No. 8 seed, won 78-76 after WSU point guard Fred VanVleet missed a three-pointer at the buzzer.
The report follows announcements about WSU’s non-conference schedule that include home games against Cal State Northridge, New Mexico and Boise State, and games in Kansas City against Kansas State and Drake.
The Shockers will also play against USC in the Tahoe Blue Blockbuster in Stateline, Nevada on Nov. 8.
